About Donna & Henry
Hello! What can I say about me? I was born in Cabanatuan, Philippines on March 17, 1980. I was raised by my beloved grandmother, "Nanay Pina." I was under her care until I left the Philippines. I remember Nanay used to make baked goods and I sell them to our neighbors and sometimes in school during class.
My family and I moved to British Columbia, Canada on March 1993 and that same year, I entered Grade 8. What a big transition! Towards the end of my senior year in high school, I went to work for Baskin N' Robins. It was also during that time when I met Henry. We first met in person when he came to Canada and attended my high school graduation. After a couple of months break from high school, I went to Douglas College for my degree in nursing. In 2001, I started attending the bible study of Iglesia Ni Cristo. At first, I was only attending because of Henry but I soon understood the teachings and I continued to listen until I finished all the basic doctrines of the church. On August 2002 I was baptized and got registered in the Locale of Surrey. At last, my dream was fulfilled. On May 2003, I graduated from nursing and later passed Canada's Board Exam. That time, Henry was visiting and gave me a promise ring and asked me to move to California. But I wasn't ready so I worked in Vancouver General Hospital for a few months. On December 2003, I passed the US Board Exam and by June 2004, I was already relocated to California. The first hospital I worked for was San Jose Medical Center which had closed on January of 2005. After that, I was hired at Stanford Hospital, where I currently work as a Registered Nurse. Moving to California brought Henry and I closer in every way. On March 2005, Henry proposed to me on my birthday at 17-mile drive. After two months, both of us and his parents drove to Canada to ask my hand from my parents. We initially planned the wedding for 2006 but it ended up on October 16, 2005. I met Henry when I was in high school and I can't believe that we are getting married soon. We always talked about what it would be like to plan our wedding, to get married and here we are just waiting when we become husband and wife. I am very excited and couldn't wait for this big day!
Hi. For those who don't know me well, I just wanted to share a little info about myself. Some of my friends call me "hen","bok" or "bhenoc." I was born in Olongapo City, Philippines on August 7, 1975. I am a member of Iglesia Ni Cristo and an active officer inside the church.
I grew up in the Philippines and spent most of my teenage life there. After finishing high school, I took two vocational courses - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Thank God, I finished both. After that, I went straight to Mapua College in Manila but didn't finish my degree because we were getting ready to move to the states. While waiting for our papers, I worked in Subic Bay as a Computer Technician. In 1994, our family migrated to Hawaii. I was 19 yrs old back then. My first job in the states was flipping burgers at McDonalds :) I worked there for about 2 months and then a company who is servicing computers for McDonalds hired me... a very funny coincident. Hawaii, is a very beautiful and romantic island but it was not the place for me. I left my family and moved to the Bay Area, California in 1996 to look for a better opportunity. I've worked at various computer companies - Intel, Siebel and others. In 1997, I met Donna through a friend. We've been together since then. During the recession, I was laid off from work. So I decided to start a small online hobby store business using the $300 left in my bank account. With the help of God, I was able to made it grow and became one of the top hobby store in the world. After 2 years, I went to look for work again. Fortunately, last year of 2004, I was hired at Yahoo! as a Web Developement Engineer for the Small Business group. By the end of August 2005, I was converted as a full time employee. So far, I am happy with my job and what I do at work. I am hoping to enhance my career so I can provide a better life for my future wife and our future kids. |
